Racquel and I started our trip to Denmark Friday morning on the ferry and met with Nina, Liv, Marcus and Trylle at a lovely hotel next to a golf course. The setting was fantastic for all, especially the dogs with their warm coats, unlike the humans who had only taken summer clothes for the trip :-( The weekend consisted of two dog shows, the Danish Leonberger Special Show on the Saturday and then the World Show on the Sunday. Both days were very special, enjoying the company of many of my friends with their dogs and running around the ring on many occasions. People had travelled from many countries for the shows, Russia, Sweden, England…. And many who had travelled distances did very well on both shows. As you will see from the results it was a very good day for the Skjærgaarden kennel :-] The weather was great for the dogs,
maybe not so kind to the humans who had not packed the winter clothes but with Racquel`s company and humour
we managed along with many laughs ringside on both days with Lotta,
The day drew an entry of 109 dogs
from all over the world and even people from Japan just enjoying seeing
the dogs. The days judging took many hours as each dog was given a
written critique, but the waiting was all worth while for many.
Judging was run a little different than normal in Norway, so the first
class to be judged was the Champion Male class where Diego was 2nd behind Fairytroll's Zorak Zoran who went on to be Best of Opposite Sex on the day.
Congratulation's Maria and Stefan! Then to the girls on the day.
First of the girls I showed was Elise's Fiona in the Champion Class, which
she won and then went on to take the day, winning Best of Breed. Congratulations
Elise! Others on the day that we also
celebrated with were Skjærgaardens Cant By Me Love who was 2nd in the
female Junior class. All at Skjærgaardens want to congratulate all the winners on the day. After packing the car we again travelled on to the next destination! We could not find our hotel so after a few phone calls found the concrete tower :-( no car parking spaces, 3 knackered dogs, bags and 2 exhausted humans ahhhhhhhhhh. We were finally in our room for 9pm and no food or drink, so I called the Chinese Take Away we had driven past and by 10pm we were eating, and very very soon afterwards to bed called :-) 7am the next day we were up and getting ourselves
organised for the World Show, where we could never ever have thought the
day could go so well. Many people were already set up around the
rings when we arrived, one ring was to hold the Puppy & Junior judging and
one for all other judging so it was not so easy to find a good spot to sit,
especially with three dogs. The CAC went to the Finnish dog, Pyrymetsan Candida. The World Winner Junior Male title went to Vallonbygdens Crazy In Beer. Congratulations to you both ! Now to the girls on the day.
